This app is compatible with a lot of audio and video formats and will enable you to use metadata to organize sound and videos.
In this article, we will let you know about all the different ways you can install Kodi on your Chromebook. It will change your whole experience of watching and recording live TV, and its intuitive interface makes it easy to use. Following are the ways to install Kodi:
From Google Chrome extension
It is very easy to use Kodi as a Chrome extension. But before that, you will have to download Kodi from ARC Welder. The steps for that will be mentioned further in this article. You have to follow these simple steps:
- Open Google Chrome browser and click on the three dots appearing at the top right corner of the screen.
- Select More Tools option and go to Extensions from the drop-down menu.
- Check the box for Developer Mode.
- Then click on Load Unpacked Extensions, and from there, find the Downloads folder.
- Open ‘.apk’ file for Kodi from the Downloads folder.
These steps will create a Kodi extension on your browser that you can launch anytime you want to stream anything on it.
Use Google Play Store
Most of the Chromebooks support Android apps, and if your Chromebook is one of them, you will have access to Google Play Store as well. You have to follow these steps:
- Open Google Play Store and search for Kodi.
- Hit the Install button, and you will be all set to use the app on your Chromebook.
Using a third-party app
Now, if you are one of those people who have Chromebooks that doesn’t support Google Play Store or Android apps, then don’t lose your heart. Your device is also capable of using the Kodi app. You have to follow a few extra steps. Before getting into it, make sure that you are using the recent and stabilized version of Chrome OS, and if not, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Chrome browser and go to the Settings tab.
- Tap on the three horizontal lined buttons or the hamburger icon at the top left corner of the screen, and click on About Chrome OS.
- Then select check for updates and download the latest update.
Once that’s done, begin installing the ARC Welder app on your device from the Chrome Web Store. And for the installation process, use Chrome Launcher. Since you cannot use Google Play Store to install the Kodi app, you will have to find the ‘.apk’ file of Kodi on your device. To download that file, you can either use APKMirror or APKPure. Please ensure that you don’t use any other third-party source as they are not reliable and might harm your file in the long run. Then, follow these steps to install Kodi:
Open ARC Welder and click on the Plus sign meant for ‘Add Your APK.’
Select the APK file that you want to download from the list appearing on the screen.
At the bottom right side of the screen, hit the open button.
Select landscape orientation and the tablet form factor for running Kodi.
Click on the TEST option to launch the app on your device.
Remember, ARC Welder does not allow you to use multiple apps at once, so you will have to test Kodi whenever you want to open the app.
