The whole team of Heather of the Bride Part 3 reunites, including Diane Keaton, Martin Short, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, George Newbern, and Kieran Culkin live stream Father the bride mini film event. After almost 25 years, the characters will reunite the pandemic ridden 2020.
The Father of the Bride is a franchise that consists of a series of romantic and comedy movies based on the novel of the same name in 1949. The film’s adaptation depicts the wedding preparation point of view of a protective father and his realization that his daughter has grown up. The original movie was released in 1950, and it was financially and critically successful; the sequel of the movie came out in 1951. In 1991, The Walt Disney Company bought the rights from Touchstone Picture film studio to adapt the story of romantic comedy. The third installment of the franchise’s mini-sequel is shot during the COVID-19 pandemic and is scheduled to be released on 25 September 2020. The reboot of the franchise is a development from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and tied up with streaming service Disney+.
The third installment started as early as 1996, under the title Father of the Bride, Part II. Although the second film did not do well at the box office, the project went under many development hell. Hollywood Reporter, Nikki Fink, reported the script was finished and shared the protagonist’s character would be gay. But Steve Martin debunked the report a day later. George Newbern stated that Charles Shyer wrote the screenplay. After that, various actors showed interest in the third franchise.
Recently, in September, Nancy Meyers announced that two movies were coming. The teaser of the first one was released on 23 September. It will star Dianne Keaton, George Newbern, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Kieran Culkin, and Martin Short in their respective roles. And in the third sequel, Robert DeNiro and Alexandra Shipp also joined the cast. The film was released on 25 September 2020 by Netflix.
Nancy Meyers was in the guest’s appearance during the live stream recently, and she also uploaded a post with the caption: Finally! So happy to tell you I’ve made a new movie- FATHER OF THE BRIDE PART 3 (ish), ‘ish’ is because it is not as long as a movie, but I think you’re going to like it! The long-awaited reunion cast of Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II from 1991 and 1995, respectively and Netflix teased to expect on Tuesday in a video of George’s email inbox. His unread mails are wedding photos, mask orders, and mass Zoom meetings sent to the family. William-Paisley, along with Martin, plays his on-screen daughter in the mini-film. During a virtual appearance on Today Show, William-Paisley said she thinks this meant to be a gift to all fans of the brides’ father, and they are hoping it will raise money for World Central Kitchen.
Martin claimed that the scenes are written touchingly, and everybody was so much fun. He added, it is a script with actors and a story!
