How to Fix Prototype 2 Crashes on Startup on Windows?

Prototype 2 is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by Radical Entertainment. This fun game can be played on PC as well. However, sometimes users have trouble with this game. If this game is crashing on startup on your Windows device, then read on and apply the fixes mentioned below.

Run the Game in Compatibility Mode

Here are the steps you need to follow:

1.    You should launch the File Explorer.

2.    Go to the location where the game is installed.

3.    Once you reach the game’s folder, select the ‘prototype2 .exe’ and right-click on it.

4.    Then choose the Properties option through the context menu.

5.    Once you reach the menu of Properties, click on the Compatibility section through the vertical ellipsis menu icon at the upper side of the menu.

6.    Thereafter, mark the ‘Run this program in compatibility mode’ box and select your OS.

7.    Now, click on the Apply button to apply the changes.



Turn off Multithreading or Hyperthreading on System

Follow the steps mentioned below:

1.    You should power up the system and press the Setup button.

2.    Once you reach the UEFI or BIOS settings, check the choice that permits you to turn off ‘Multithreading’ on AMD or ‘Hyperthreading’ on Intel.

3.    After enforcing the change, apply the changes, reboot the system, and then wait for the startup to finish.

Turn off HID-Compliant Control Devices via Device Manager

Here are the directions you need to follow.

1.    Hold the Windows and R keys together.

2.    After that, input ‘devmgmt.msc’ into it and select the OK button to launch the Device Manager.

3.    Once you reach the Device Manager, move down via the installed devices list and extend the menu of drop-down related to ‘Human Interface Devices.’

4.    Select each ‘HID-compliant consumer control device’ and right-click on it.

5.    Click on the ‘Disable Device’ option through the freshly shown context menu.

6.    Now, close the Device Manager, open the game again, and if the issue has been resolved

Validate the Game on Steam

Here are the steps you need to follow:

1.    You should launch the Steam client and choose the Library through the menu.

2.    Thereafter, select the Prototype 2 then select the Properties option.

3.    Once you reach the Prototype 2 screen, choose the option of Local Files, and click on the ‘Verify Integrity of the Game File’ option.

4.    Now, you have to wait until the operation finishes and then reboot the system.

5.    Finally, launch the game again.
