Joaquin Phoenix and Ryan Reynolds May Join the Cast of Doctor Strange 2

According to the latest sensational rumor, the “Joker” actor Joaquin Phoenix and the fan-favorite X-Men character Deadpool are set to join the cast of the second Doctor Strange film titled “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Other MCU characters like Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man are expected to have an appearance in the film as well. According to the films’ IMDb page, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff will have a pivotal role in the film.

Daniel RPK, who is renowned for covering sensational Hollywood news, has confirmed a rumor that Marvel CEO Kevin Feige wants to cast Joker actor for the role of Stephen Strange (in the parallel universe). Daniel has added that Feige wants to cast Phoenix because he wants to add those actors in the film who were once considered for specific roles in the MCU. Feige wants those actors to play such roles in the Marvel multiverse, explored in the upcoming films.

As far as Deadpool is concerned, Marvel wants the character to be “self-conscious” in Doctor Strange 2, where he will give comic relief to the fans by making fun of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Joaquin Phoenix was considered for the role of Doctor Strange before Benedict Cumberbatch became involved. The director of the film Scott Derrickson said that apart from Phoenix, Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto were also discussed before the role ultimately went to Cumberbatch. If this is true, then it means both Jared Leto and Gosling might have a role in the second film.

It is imperative to understand only a few things are official about the movie at the moment, and the rumors mentioned above should be taken with a pinch of salt.

In addition to Phoenix, Feige also wants a new Avengers team in one of the parallel universes where we would see different actors take on Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, etc. Feige has mentioned explicitly that he only wants those actors who were once in talks with Marvel for a role in the MCU.

According to this, we might see Joaquin Phoenix as Doctor Strange, Tom Cruise as Iron Man, John Krasinski as Captain America, and Sicario actress Emily Blunt as Black Widow. Additionally, Edward Norton might return to play the role of Hulk.

Wait. Don’t call this madness yet. There is more to it.

Several sources have confirmed that they already have Toby Maguire as Spiderman for the film, and Feige is now pushing to bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for one last time. Just imagine the budget of this film.

Phase 4 of MCU will largely revolve around the multiverse storyline, which will be introduced in the WandaVision (soon to be released on Disney+). Apart from WandaVision, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are also set to arrive on Disney+.

As far as films are concerned, Black Widow has already been made and is ready for a release. The third Spider-Man film is also in development, which will see Jamie Foxx’s return as Electro and esteemed actors Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spiderman from different universes.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be a film directed by Sam Raimi, and currently, its release date of March 2022 is intact, but it is likely to change soon.
