The method discussed below works effectively on most modern-day browsers, including Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. The method described below also works on Firefox derivatives and many other Chromium-based web browsers. So, let us proceed further towards the method that you can use to clear your browsing history with simple keyboard shortcuts.

Please be noted that we have used Windows as a platform to describe the steps for clearing the browsing history on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Still, the same keyboard shortcuts can clear the browsing history of all the major browsers on other platforms like Chromebook, Mac, and Linux.

  • Open that particular browser whose browsing history needs to be deleted.
  • You now have to make use of the triplet on your keyboard. This triplet will be the same for almost all browsers. Below we have mentioned the shortcuts for the respective platforms:

Linux & Windows and Linux: Press together the keys Ctrl+Shift+Del.

For Mac: You need to press together the keys Command+Shift+Delete.

On Chromebooks: Press together the keys Ctrl+Shift+Backspace.

  • A prompt window will appear on Chrome, where you can choose the history you want to remove. And from the drop-down menu, you need to check mark the timeframe and the relevant boxes.
  • Then on the bottom, tap on “Clear Data.”
  • If you are using Firefox, a prompt window will appear to select the data you want to delete. Alongside that, select the time range of the data that needs to be deleted.
  • The process of clearing the browsing history is similar for all the platforms; however, there might be a slight change in the appearance of the prompt window, but whatever may be the case, you will always get an option to choose the desired data that needs to be deleted. Alongside that, there will always be a “Clear Data” or a similar option to tap on after selecting the data that you want to delete.

So, these were the steps with which you can clear the browsing history with keyboard shortcuts on any browser on your systems.
