A man accused of killing a Louisiana state trooper has been arrested, authorities say

A man suspected of shooting five people and killing two, including a state trooper, is now in custody, Louisiana authorities said in a news conference.

(CNN) A suspect of shooting five victims and killing two others one of them, one of them a police officer is currently in custody, Louisiana authorities said in an announcement at a news conference.

Matthew Mire, 31, was taken into custody without incident the night of Saturday, Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Lamar Davis said at a news conference.
The efforts of CNN to determine whether Mire is represented by an attorney, or was officially charged, were not successful on Sunday.

Mire is believed to be the shooter who shot and killed LSP Master Trooper Adam Gaubert early Saturday morning, Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre stated during a press conference.

Initial reports suggest Gaubert is an officer with 19 years of experience in the Louisiana State Police, was shot by a gunman and shot dead while in his car outside Baton Rouge, Davis said.
After allegedly shooting and killing an officer of the State Police at Ascension Parish, Mire allegedly fired in the other direction, allegedly shootingtwo others at Livingston Parish, authorities said.
"This began around 12 am at Livingston Parish where this Matthew Mire was able to shoot two people. Then he went the border to Ascension Parish where he shot two additional. One victim died of her injuries," Webre said.

The person was identified as 37 year old Pamela Adair, who was transported to a hospital, where she passed away, according an update on Facebook from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

Following that, the gunman "got into a gunfight " with an officer near Hoo Shoo Too Road. He attempted to kill the trooper in the area," Webre said.

"If you've ever seen police car of the trooper and saw the gap on the inside of his windshield in which Matthew Mire tried to kill the trooper" Sheriff John McKinney said.
During the manhunt LSP posted on Twitter: "Police are searching for an individual in the vicinity in the area of Hooshootoo Road at Tiger Bend Road. The suspect, a white male, may have engaged in fire with Troopers and is believed to be dangerous and armed."

Webre stated that authorities were searching to find the man on ground in the air and even in the water.
Although the suspect is in police custody, "We still do not know the motivebehind the shooting," Webre said Saturday night. "We aren't sure why the suspect killed five people this morning."

The two victims of the shooting in Livingston Parish, a man and woman, are expected to be able to come back from injuries after being wounded in their legs and arms, according to the information provided by Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard who was mentioned on Facebook from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.
The third victim of the shooting of Ascension Parish, 43-year-old Joseph Schexnayder is in stable but critical state, according to a separate announcement from the sheriff's office.

Louisiana State Police paid tribute to Gaubert on Facebook:
"Trooper Gaubert embodied everything we are about: respect and duty, selfless sacrifice and courage. In the months ahead we will be mourning his tragic death and be proud of his contribution to our police department and to the people from Louisiana," state police announced.

"At this point we request that you respect the family of Trooper Gaubert's privacy."
