Rev. Jesse Jackson Is Opening Up About His Battle With Covid 19

CHICAGO (WLS) the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. was removed from a rehabilitation center Wednesday after a struggle with COVID-19 and Parkinson's disease.

"Thank God for leading the path to allow me to walk again under my own and to talk," he said.

The 79-year old civil and human rights icon left Shirley Ryan Ability Lab on Wednesday morning. Shirley Ryan Ability Lab Wednesday morning, after overcoming coronavirus and completed the treatment for Parkinson's disease.

"We've focused on his endurance, strength and balance as well as his recuperation," said Dr. Leslie Rydberg, Rev. Jackson's doctor.

When Mrs. Jackson was discharged from the hospital a few weeks ago, over the last months, Jackson Sr. remained in rehabilitation and received speech and occupational therapy as well as 60 to 90 minutes in physical therapy.

"I was an athlete to a guru and a drill expert, however, Jackson is extremely enthusiastic. He is a lover of movement, and it's a joy to work with him," said Talia Shapiro the Jackson's physical therapy.

Rev. Jackson Rev. Jackson and his wife , who was not, both were admitted to Northwestern Memorial on august 21 after being negative for the illness. He claimed he was unaffected and was stunned by the results.

He also said that he was eight days in isolation and he urged all particularly those from Black as well as brown neighborhoods to take the shot.
"The shot saved me out of to death," Jackson said. "I never suffered from breathing issues or respiratory problem. It wasn't able to take over me."

With Rev. Jackson's release and recovery his thoughts could turn back to the crisis of migrant workers at the border as well as the suffering of deported and exiled Haitians.

The delegation is headed by son Jonathan who is the spokesperson national on behalf of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, to the region.

"It's been an entire months' time, and it's an amazing month, and he's a lot stronger," Jonathan Jackson said.

While Rev. Jackson is grateful for all the wishes and prayers and prayers, he will continue in prayer for all those that lost loved family members due to coronavirus.

"I am writing to thank individuals. My wife and I are extremely thankful," he said.
