'Six Days in Fallujah' recreates one of the bloodiest battles in Iraq, but critics say it's an 'Arab murder simulator'

Najla Bassim Abdulelah was raised in the midst of war. The constant glimpse of dead bodies and the memories of the friend who was killed right next to her on the way to school, ruined her youth.

The children's laughter was replaced by an endless soundtrack of bombs exploding and she was plagued by an uncontrollable worry of the possibility of losing family members.
That's why Abdulelah currently lives at Atlanta, Georgia, heard that "Six Days in Fallujah," a first-person shooter video game that takes place in one of the conflicts in Iraq's most bloody battle was close to release, she became astonished.

"I am disgusted to think that this could generate profit while those like me have suffered the effects of conflict and have to observe people playing it to have amusement," Abdulelah, 28 said to CNN. "I cannot get over the cruelty."

For Abdulelah and the other Iraq War survivors, the coming publication from "Six days in Fallujah" could open old wounds and diminish the pain they endured.
They want the game to be put away.

However, the developers of the video game argue that it's misunderstood and that they're simply playing games which is the way that players interact with a game -- to help teach the history of the game.

'A massive killing of Arabs'

Part documentary and gaming video, "Six Days in Fallujah" makes use of gameplay to tell the history of the city and tell true tales of The Second Battle of Fallujah. The offensive, codenamed Operation Phantom Fury, saw the US Marines lead a joint force comprising American, British and Iraqi troops into the city of a long time.
The conflict lasted from the 7th of November through November 7 to and according according to US Army the battle is widely considered to be the US most difficult urban conflict in the history of Hue, Vietnam, when fierce fightingbetween American soldiers as well as North Vietnamese soldiers resulted in the deaths of hundredsperhaps thousandsof civilians who were laid to rest in mass graves without markings by communist troops.
In Fallujah American-led forces scoured house-to-house searching for suspected rebels. The fighters from both sides and hundreds of innocent Iraqis who were caught in the crossfire, tried their best to stay clear of the snipers or booby-traps.

"We were informed when we went into Fallujah in the conflict zone, that every single person who was moving, speaking, or or breathing could be considered an enemy. So, every person who was walking down the street or inside the house was considered to be targeted," Jeff Englehart, a former US soldier in the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division as portrayed in the documentaries " Fallujah, The Hidden Massacre."
US-led forces used over 300 rounds of explosives, 6,600 rounds artillery and 29,000 mortar round according to the US Marines. Military officials have also have confirmed that troops were using white phosphorous which is a controversial weapon for incendiary use that can burn the skin.
Ross Caputi, a former US Marine with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, recalls the controversial tactics used in the war, such as shooting grenades or gun shots into homes prior to entering in case militants were hiding in the.
"These strategies were designed to protect us. But I discovered later that tens of thousands civilians were at home in the midst of the war, and this strategy would put them in a great risk," Caputi told CNN. "The difficulties caused by Phantom Fury imposed on Fallujans and the damage it caused caused me to feel very ashamed of what we did."
At the end of the day at the end, at least the 80 American soldier were killed in the conflict, CNN reported. The exact number of civilian casualties is unknown However, around 800 innocent Iraqis were killed as per the Red Cross. Local NGOs estimate that the war may have killed up to 6,000 Iraqis mostly civilians, the Guardian has stated.
The aftermath was described by Englehart stated, "It seemed like just an immense massacre of Arabs. It seemed like massive murder."  read more..
